The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season moves, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
